Summer fun: food and alcohol edition

I’m gonna let you in on a little secret... your friends want fresh, yummy, healthy food even when you think they don’t!! No one looked at this watermelon/feta/mint salad I brought to my friend's this weekend and thought, "ughhh Em WOULD bring something healthy to this... she's so annoying." Nope. Their response was actually quite the opposite. They literally got so excited to try it bc 1) it looked refreshing & amazing, and 2) it went great with our burgers & white claws.

Summer fun is now in full force ☀️🙌🏻🤸🏼‍♂️ bbq’s, pool days, beach days, rooftops, concerts... all of these typically have a few things in common: people, food, music, & alcohol.

ANDDD In the midst of all the fun, these gatherings can also be super triggering for a lot of women, allowing you to easily slip into that all-or-nothing mindset. Drinks on drinks or no drinking at all. Eat allll the food or don't eat anything. We like to pre-determine our health thermometer of the day so that we don't feel bad if/when we go overboard.

But this mindset ends up screwing us over either way.

If you plan an unhealthy day then all the "guilt" goes away when you slam down drinks and shove your face with fries, but you might not feel so good later in the day and when you wake up the next morning alll the guilt starts flooding back in. On the other hand, if you decide to "be healthy" for that day, then the whole time you're thinking about restriction.

Either way, you're stripping yourself of joy and pleasure in the overall experience. But you don't have to.

Here's how you get to shift things up when you're out this summer:

✅ Step 1) Stop putting a limit on your joy and start focusing on how much fun you get to have.

✅ 2) Say peace out to the black and white mentality and welcome in the "let's experience ultimate pleasure" mentality.

✅ Step 3) Focus on how what you're putting into your body impacts your state of being, so you can keep having an awesome time

Follow what makes you feel lit up, vibrant, and happy af, both in the MOMENT and in your OVERALL experience (this includes food, drinks, people, music, surroundings... everything contributes!).

When you focus on the cumulative pleasure of your experience as a whole, all of the sudden the pressure starts melting away about your food and drink choices because now you’re focused on having a good time - a good time that gets to be AMPLIFIED with good food & drinks rather than being DEPENDENT on it. Cheers to summer ya’ll!

Em
