The connection between food, anxiety, and pleasure

What is anxiety?

To me, anxiety is the fear of the unknown.

What if … happens?

What if I don't …?

What if they think …?

What if I'm not good enough to … ?

What if I can't … ?

Naturally, as humans, we look for a way to lessen this discomfort, to dissipate that unsettling feeling of uncertainty.

A way to block that path, that neurological connection that links the uncertainty of our current situation with the sense of fear and distress.

For me, and for many others who struggle or have struggled with emotional eating, I did this through food.

It's easy to turn to food for comfort.

Food becomes a clutch.

A safety net.

A way to mask the overwhelming anxiety we wake up with and go to bed with every day.

A way to make all of those thoughts in our head shut up for a second so we can finally relax.

For me, about 8 years ago, although I wasn't aware at the time, my anxiety flareups had a huge impact on my food/eating behaviors.

And when anxiety starts to affect the way you think about food, it can become a slippery slope…

But what if we changed that neurological connection?

The connection between what we do and what we find PLEASURE in.

What if we made it INEVITABLE for you to venture on a path toward success, happiness and joy when it comes to your health?

What if this time, we took a different journey?

A journey toward HABIT CHANGE.

NOT changing your habits TO FIT THE MOLD of someone else's "healthy lifestyle" you're trying to adopt.

I'm talking about truly changing YOUR habits.

In a way that YOU find pleasurable.

So that you don't have to wake up every morning searching for this huge sense of willpower to hold onto in order to keep up your "healthy lifestyle" and reach your goals.

No.

This is about finding what brings you JOY.

What lifts you up.

What energizes you.

What invigorates you.

What foods and activities you LOVE that have you living your best life.

And then following that.

No more forcing yourself. No more doing or eating things you don't like.

Just YOU - following the behaviors and activities that bring you the most pleasure in life.

And then turning these healthy habits into behaviors that last.

So that they become your way.

It's simply what you do.

You wake up feeling strong and confident in your own skin.

Actually loving the life you lead.

THIS

is about GETTING CURIOUS ABOUT HOW GOOD YOU CAN FEEL.

And chasing that.
